Wright State University medical students, in partnership with Premier Health, will host a free Community Health Fair designed to promote healthy lifestyles and provide essential health services to underserved communities in Dayton.
The health fair will take place on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CityThrift St. Vincent de Paul parking lot, 945 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. The site is accessible by RTA Bus Routes 9, 19 and 22.
The event will offer a range of activities and resources for adults and children, focusing on hygiene, nutrition education, mental health, health care access, substance use and healthy lifestyles. Free resources, giveaways, free food and kids’ activities will be available.
Premier Community Health’s mobile clinic will provide BMI, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. The Premier Health Mobile Mammogram Coach will offer mammogram screenings; appointments can be booked at wright.edu/mamm.
The Cleveland Dental Institute will also provide dental screenings and cleanings.
This student-run Community Health Fair aims to foster healthy lifestyles in underserved communities and provide Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine medical students with opportunities for community service and partnership.
Medical students Ananya Reddy and Sabrina Shams Mahanpour said the students’ goal is to expand access to vital health care by providing free screenings, resources and education.
“This year, we are proud to offer services such as mammograms, dental care, behavioral health support and addiction recovery resources, along with wellness activities and community outreach programs,” they said. “As medical students, we recognize the importance of preventive care and are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles. With the support of our community partners, student-led organizations and dedicated volunteers, we hope to make a meaningful and lasting difference.”
