The new chapel that houses the Catholic Campus Ministry at Wright State University will receive a design award from the American Institute of Architects Ohio next month.
The $1 million St. John Bosco Chapel replaced an A-frame building that was meant to be a temporary home for the ministry when it was constructed from a vacation home kit by students in 1972, said the Rev. Edward Burns.
The new 5,000-square-foot chapel seats 150 and features a fully equipped kitchen, multipurpose room, gathering space and offices for staff. It is also fully accessible.
