Wright State University hosted a Weapons of Mass Destruction seminar Tuesday to raise awareness of bio-security risks. Biological weapons such as anthrax and ricin have been used for years to threaten laboratories, biotechnology companies, scientists and students locally and internationally.
“Security is everybody’s job, everybody’s responsibility,” said FBI Weapons of Mass Destruction coordinator Richard Maier. “Law enforcement can’t be everywhere all the time and the subject matter experts within the university and research institutions, they’re the ones best positioned to know when something is not quite right and report that to the proper authorities.”
Wright State is one of only 10 universities nationwide hosting the FBI Academic Bio-security Workshop.
