Wright State University researchers are building a breath-analysis device that they hope will detect such diseases as diabetes, kidney disease and cancer by identifying changes in smell and chemistry that such diseases create in a human’s breath.
The team includes Ivan Medvedev, Ph.D., an assistant physics professor, and a student team consisting of Jessica R. Thomas, Tianle Guo and Daniela Branco.
The goal is to come up with a non-invasive way of making an early diagnosis of a disease and minimizing its impact. The whole process could take anywhere between five and 15 years.
