One hundred Logan County high school students who will be the first in their families to attend college will visit Wright State University for a college readiness program on Friday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in 163E Student Union.
Organized by the Department of English Language and Literatures, College Readiness Day will introduce these future college students to the level and type of writing expected of college students.
Wright State students will share multimedia presentations from their English composition courses and will discuss their views of college. Undergraduate English major Jen Kube will talk about the advantages provided by Wright State’s First Year Experience peer-mentoring program.
“We want high school students to see how exciting research writing can be by viewing the multimedia projects of our students,” said Nancy Mack, Ph.D., professor of English.
This innovative transition-to-college program is funded in part by a Race to the Top Grant in conjunction with the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of English Language and Literatures.
