More than 100 graduating medical students at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and their families and friends celebrated the announcements Friday of where they will complete their medical residencies.
Match Day, which is celebrated nationally, is the day when medical students learn where they will receive advanced clinical training in a residency program. The National Resident Matching Program determines where students will be placed and the results are released nationally at the same time.
Almost 46 percent of the 103 Wright State graduates will stay in Ohio and about 20 percent will stay in the Dayton region, said Dean Majorie Bowman, during the ceremony. Students will go to programs throughout Ohio including Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University and Wright State. Others will go to programs throughout the country including the University of Michigan, Duke, the Mayo Clinic and Dartmouth-HItchcock Medical Center.
