Leaders of the Wright State University-Premier Health Neuroscience Institute and Dayton Children’s Hospital believe a new affiliation announced Thursday will help patients and strengthen Dayton as a home to neuro-trauma research.
The alliance means a nearly $2 million investment into medical research in the Dayton area, including a new professor/researcher position at Wright State. That researcher will have his or her own lab and a staff of five to eight people, said Dr. Timothy Cope, director of the four-year-old local neuroscience institute.
A nationwide search for that new professor is underway. The Air Force is expected to participate, and the partnership is expected to attract other physicians and clinicians to the area as well.
