College of Education and Human Services Dean recognized again

Dean Charlotte Harris was named named a Willystine Goodsell Award winner for 2011.

Another week brings another award for Dean Charlotte Harris, Ed. D., College of Education and Human Services.

This time, the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Research on Women and Education (RWE) special interest group is recognizing Harris for significant contribution to AERA on behalf of women, girls and education.

AERA says it is because of this effort that she has been named the Willystine Goodsell Award winner for 2011.

AERA notes that Harris has made notable contributions in this endeavor through scholarship, activism and community building.

Harris will accept the award Friday at the AERA Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Just last week, Harris was recognized for similar efforts by the Girl Scouts of Southwestern Ohio.

Harris began her academic career in 1969 as an English teacher in Maryland. After holding various positions through her career, she joined Wright State in 2000 as a faculty member in the Department of Teacher Education.

Harris has served as chair of that department and now serves as the first female dean of the College of Education and Human Services.

Harris also currently serves as a Unit Accreditation Board member on the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. She is a reviewer for the Section on Social and Institutional Analysis.

Harris also recently represented Wright State at the 2010 HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration.
