Wright State hosts country’s largest all a cappella camp

Students from around the country can be found on Wright State University’s campus this week singing their hearts out during Camp A Cappella.

Camp A Cappella helps collegiate and high school students, adults and professionals develop and further their singing skills.

This year’s camp attracted 225 participants.

Brody McDonald, who teaches music at Wright State and directs the student a cappella ensemble ETHOS, is one of the founders of the camp.

“When students come in and teachers come in to get instruction, they’re getting professionals from the entertainment industry, merged with professors and high school teachers who are all experts at a cappella,” said McDonald, who also is director of choirs at Kettering Fairmont High School.

Camp participants will perform with Filharmonic and ETHOS on Friday, June 26, Student Union Apollo Room. Tickets are $25.

The camp concludes Sunday, June 28, with a concert featuring all 225 campers performing at noon in the Apollo Room.
