Two new members appointed to Wright State Board of Trustees

Bruce Langos

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed two new trustees to the 11-member Wright State University Board of Trustees.

Bruce Langos, 63, of Dayton, was appointed effective immediately, replacing former board member Nina Joshi. Langos’ term ends June 30, 2018.

Wright State student Austin Rains, 22, of Dayton, was appointed for a term beginning July 1, 2017, and ending June 30, 2019. He replaces Wright State alum Ryan Pignatiello.

Langos is the executive director of the Criminal Intelligence Center in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He is accountable for conducting in-depth regional analysis of crime and sharing that analysis with law enforcement agencies. In that role, Langos also establishes partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies — reinforced through the sharing of timely crime data — to complement and enhance traditional crime-fighting strategies.

Langos previously served as chief operations officer for Teradata Corporation. He was accountable for all operational functions across the company worldwide, including supply line management, global procurement, advanced manufacturing, logistics including service parts logistics, real estate, aviation, corporate security, intellectual property licensing, and designs and implements programs that strengthen the company’s processes and increase operating efficiency. He also led the company’s sales support and order management functions.

Langos began his career at NCR Corporation and held positions of increasing responsibility, including OEM product sales, product marketing, product line management, strategic planning and intellectual property licensing.

He serves on the Business Advisory Board for the Wright State Raj Soin College of Business. He is also a governor-appointed commissioner for the Third Frontier Commission in Ohio, a state of Ohio certified humane agent and chair of the Montgomery County Drug Free Coalition.

Austin Rains

Rains earned his bachelor’s degrees psychology, with an industrial/organizational concentration, and a minor in marketing from Wright State and is currently completing his MBA at the Raj Soin College of Business, focusing on health care administration and project management. He also plans to earn a certificate in public health leadership from Wright State.

He works as a graduate research assistant at the Wright State Research Institute on the Dayton Metro Plan for Economic Diversity, which focuses on building tech commercialization strategies and supporting the startup community.

He serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Mary Development Corporation and serves as the chief justice of the Wright State Student Government Association.

Outside of his academic and professional commitments, Rains enjoys reading for fun, road tripping and adventuring with his fiancé, being an active member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honorary and an active alumnus of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
