Community support helps ensure that curtains rise, galleries stay lit and stages shine bright across the Miami Valley.
That’s the focus of Dayton-based Culture Works, the united arts fund and arts service agency for the Greater Dayton region. The agency operates to create and maintain a vibrant and attractive community filled with quality arts to bring measurable and immeasurable value to our community.
Wright State University is proud to be partnering with Culture Works and participating in the Culture Works Campaign 2011, “You Make the Performance.”
In support of the campaign, Robert Sweeney, Wright State Executive Vice President for Planning and Culture Works board member, quipped, “Without the arts, people like me could be the best singers you know. Mine is not the voice you want to hear singing while you are in the elevator or waiting in the dentist office; so I fully support this campaign and all of the talented people it benefits in our region.”
Starting June 1 Wright State will begin a workplace giving campaign, which will conclude June 17. The annual campaign supports the Dayton Philharmonic, Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, The Human Race Theatre, The Muse Machine and the Cityfolk festival.
Culture Works supports all of these groups and is the largest provider of general operating support for many of the non-profit arts organizations operating in greater Dayton.
In addition to working with Wright State, Culture Works partners with local corporations, foundations and individuals to raise money to keep the arts vibrant in our community.
This year, Culture Works leaders have set a goal of raising 1.6 million dollars.
Any donation is encouraged but there are some perks arts lovers should know about.
A contribution of $85 comes with the Culture Works Passport—a one-year membership that can get you two-for-one tickets and discounts at local arts organizations, retailers and restaurants.
With a contribution of $35, you receive The Living Arts, Culture Works’ quarterly arts magazine and calendar mailed directly to your home.
The Wright State Culture Works workplace giving campaign will also feature a gift basket raffle. All proceeds will benefit the campaign.
