The Raiders are gearing up for an Italian job they hope will help them during the regular season.
The Wright State men’s basketball team will head to Italy August 20 to play four games against Italian teams before returning home August 30 from the 10-day trip.
Head coach Billy Donlon and his team have begun an intense series of 10 rugged practices before heading to Europe.
Because this is the first foreign trip Donlon has taken as a head coach, he doesn’t want to work the Raiders too hard. Donlon does want to make sure the team is ready to take full advantage of the opportunity to play against high-level Italian professional teams.
Donlon believes the experience will be key for his team, which is loaded with underclassman. Wright State currently has nine freshmen and sophomores on the roster and no player who has been with the program for more than one season.
- The practices have been intense as Donlon has tried to prepare his team for professional competition.
- The trip to Italy will be the first international trip head coach Billy Donlon has taken his team on.
- The Raiders are in the midst of a rugged 10-practice schedule before the trip.
