The Wright State University women’s basketball team helped distribute new sneakers and socks to families affected by the recent tornadoes.
Shoes 4 The Shoeless brought two truckloads of shoes to Trotwood Middle School on July 24. Dozens of volunteers, including the Raider basketball players, helped unload sneakers, assist families and play games with the children.
“We love seeing people smile,” said Jalise Beck, a senior guard for the Raiders.
Kris Horlacher, director of Shoes 4 The Shoeless, was told that 360 families in Trotwood lost belongings during the storm.
“We are replacing shoes and socks for those families,” said Horlacher.
“The opportunity to be out here to give to others is very humbling,” added Devin Reed, administrative assistant for the team.
Shoes 4 the Shoeless is a local nonprofit that provides new, correctly fitting gym shoes and socks to Dayton-area children in need. Another distribution is planned for Aug. 5 in Beavercreek.
