DBJ: Wright State to extend remote instruction through summer semester

One of the largest universities in Dayton will extend online instruction for most classes through summer 2020 — a continuation of a remote delivery system that began this month at most colleges to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Wright State University announced the news Monday morning in a campus-wide email sent by Douglas Leaman, interim provost.

“State public health officials anticipate that restrictions on face-to-face activities will extend into the summer months due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic,” Leaman wrote. “Therefore, nearly all summer semester courses offered by Wright State University will be provided by remote delivery only.”

Exceptions to the rule include clinicals, practicals, internships and other types of field experience courses. For those classes, students are asked to contact the director or chair of the program for more details or additional instructions.

Students in the School of Professional Psychology and Boonshoft School of Medicine are also exempt from the rule, Leaman said.
