DAYTON — The region’s clinical and basic science research capabilities, as well as the presence of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, are all key to helping Dayton become a neuroscience standout, a key neuroscience recruit to the area said Monday.
“You have a hospital system and a research enterprise that are well-linked,” said Dr. Kenneth J. Gaines, who was introduced last week as the chair of the Boonshoft School of Medicine’s new neurology department. “That’s an advantage that attracted me.”
Gaines was referring to Premier Health Partners and the Boonshoft School of Medicine, part of Wright State University. The two institutions in 2010 announced the creation of a neuroscience institute, of which Gaines will serve as chair and director of special projects in clinical neuroscience development.
