Contemporary art from China on display at Dayton Art Institute

DAYTON — Lisa Morrisette says it was “almost like Christmas” when the dramatic pieces of art arrived in Dayton and were being carefully removed from their crates.

The Wright State University adjunct professor — who specializes in Asian art history and textiles — served as guest curator for the new exhibit opening this weekend at the Dayton Art Institute. It’s being billed as the first exhibition of Chinese contemporary fiber art to travel outside of China. Audiences in only three cities — including Dayton — will see it before it returns to China.
