With a reduction in price, Wright State makes its LEAP Intensive English Program more attractive to local international students who want to increase their skills in English.
Wright State is making its intensive English program more attractive to students from the local international community who want to increase their skills in English.
The university is now offering courses in the LEAP Intensive English Program for half price for Ohio residents.
“We’ve been exploring different ways to accommodate local residents who want to study English,” said Jeannette Horwitz, director of the LEAP program. “We want to encourage local residents to take advantage of the opportunity to engage with the Wright State community where they will discover so many ways to enhance their professional skills and their personal interests.”
LEAP (Learning English for Academic and Professional Purposes) provides full-time English instruction and helps non-native speakers develop the linguistic, academic and social skills they need to be successful.
LEAP offers five levels of study, from low beginner to advanced levels. The new half-price cost is $2,272 for five courses in a 14-week semester, or $412 per course.
Fall semester classes begin August 31.
Horwitz is pleased to host two local students who are enrolled in the LEAP program for the current semester. One is a recent high school graduate who recently moved into the area, and another is here to work on increasing her skills for graduate and professional training.
“There are a lot of local residents for whom the program would be a good fit,” said Horwitz. “LEAP opens a door for both traditional and nontraditional students to improve their language skills and build upon the many talents they have to offer our community.”
