Wright State University will provide virtual spaces for students, faculty and staff to discuss and process the Nov. 3 election results.
The post-election virtual spaces will be available Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at wright.webex.com/meet/mia.honaker. Participants can also join by phone by dialing 1-415-655-0003 then entering access code 478 945 093.
Students and employees may drop into the space on Webex at any time between 5 and 8 p.m. and stay for as long as they like.
The open discussion will be facilitated by faculty members and doctoral students from the School of Professional Psychology and staff members from the university’s Culture and Identity Centers. Live captionists will be provided.
A second post-election virtual space is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, at a time to be determined.
The virtual spaces are organized in partnership between the university’s Culture and Identity Centers and the Inclusive Excellence Programming Committee, which has hosted several online discussions about diversity and racial equality at the university. Culture and Identity Center staff and Inclusive Excellence Programming Committee members saw another opportunity to provide an open discussion after the election.
After hearing from people who have anxiety about the presidential election, the committee organized the post-election discussions to provide an open space for Wright State community members to discuss their thoughts and feelings about the results.
Participants should be respectful of their peers’ thoughts and opinions. The intent of the sessions is not to be argumentative but to provide a space where Wright State community members can be authentic and share their thoughts and feelings in a civil manner.
