Based on J.M. Barrie’s 1904 play, this rousing, tuneful and tender tale of adventure concerns the mischievous Peter Pan and his pal Tinkerbell who whisk the Darling siblings to Neverland, where they meet and conquer the villainous Captain Hook. The delightful score, one of the finest of the 1950s, contains such gems as “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “Never Never Land,” “Wendy,” “Captain Hook’s Waltz” and “I Won’t Grow Up.”
“One of the best things about doing live theater is taking a show that is really connected to a particular time period and finding a way to make it come alive again,” said director Joe Deer. “Often old pieces of musical theater feel stiff, stale and not alive at all, but this show is completely different. ‘Peter Pan’ is so joyful and funny. Our Neverland is going to be very playful with surprising elements of contemporary technology.”
