Wright State University marketing major Brianna Fedak received a national honor for her community service work designed to help the United Nations pursue its global goals.
Brianna Fedak, of Huntsburg, Ohio, received an Honor Award for service hours devoted to quality education.
She was recognized by the InnerView/United Nations Association, a movement of Americans who believe that the nation’s interests and values can best be advanced by standing with the United Nations.
The goals of the United Nations are maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and achieving international cooperation. The goals of InnerView/United Nations Association include fighting poverty, hunger and inequality and promoting good health, quality education and climate action.
Fedak began working with InnerView/United Nations Association when she was in high school as a way to become more involved in her community and help her keep track of her service hours.
She earned her honor for completing 44 service hours, most of them for being a volunteer note-taker for the Wright State Office of Disability Services. She also helped a grade school in her hometown by organizing classrooms, volunteering at the school’s STEM camp and helping with bake sales.
“The UN plays an important role in our world,” said Fedak. “Right now their 17 Sustainable Development Goals are more important than ever. Working towards these goals will help improve our world.”
