Vincent Driscoll, a lead custodial floor care technician at Wright State University, received a 2023 President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership.

A 24-year Wright State veteran, Driscoll is praised by his colleagues for his ability to be a team player as well as for his leadership and problem-solving skills. His positive can-do attitude, accessible personality and commitment to doing things the “Wright Way” have made the university a better place for faculty, staff and students alike.

“I’ve known Vince for 13 years. He’s worked with me at the university, first as my trainer in custodial services and now he reports to me as lead floor care tech,” said Willie E. Hayden, Facilities Operations supervisor. “Vincent has played a vital role in my self-development at the university by leading by example. Those who have followed his advice and instructions have been promoted and or rewarded accordingly. I truly believe that my success is a direct result of the early principles established through my training.”

Driscoll’s ability to see the larger picture, his dedication to excellence and his commitment to proper procedure are just a few of the reasons he has earned the respect of his colleagues. He leads through example, helping to develop others in a way that always puts the success of the university first. He is always reliable, honest and resourceful.

“During his time on my team, he’s managed to help develop competent and capable floor care technicians,” Hayden said. “He regularly meets and surpasses the goals I set for him and the team. In addition, Vincent always prioritizes the customer’s needs and follows up to ensure that each experience within Facilities is a positive one.”
