Since joining Wright State University in 2009, Tracy Brewer, D.N.P., R.N., has distinguished herself as an innovative teacher and leader in the Wright State University–Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health.
As an assistant professor, Brewer has championed the integration of team-based learning and has worked tirelessly to explore opportunities for inter-professional education activities with the Boonshoft School of Medicine. She helped redesign an obstetrics and women’s health in a team-based learning format, helping to increase students’ overall course grades and scores on national tests.
In 2011, she received the College of Nursing and Health’s Undergraduate Classroom Teaching Excellence Award. She also has received the Research Article of the Year Award from the Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing. She is also a reviewer for the journal.
An active leader within the College of Nursing and Health, Brewer serves on numerous organizations and committees, including the college’s Change Team, which is devising a new five-year strategic plan focused on creating innovative teaching methods that can improve student success. She is also a member of the Faculty Senate and the Academic Integrity Hearing Panel and has served on the Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee.
