Pratik Parikh

Pratik Parikh, Ph.D., is a gifted and dedicated educator and researcher, and is admired by his Wright State colleagues and students and his industry and academics collaborators.

He is assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical, Industrial, and Human Factors Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science and director of Data Analytics and Optimization Laboratory. He also has a courtesy appointment in the Department of Surgery in the Boonshoft School of Medicine.

“Enthusiasm is a hallmark of Dr. Parikh’s approach to everything he does,” said Lang Hong, associate dean of research and graduate studies in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. “From his zeal for teaching to his dedication to research and service, Dr. Parikh excels in engaging others around him.”

Parikh developed engineering methods to reduce patient wait times for surgery at Dayton’s VA Medical Center and for trauma patients in the ER. He also has collaborated with several area businesses on price optimization research projects. Parikh has secured more than $600,000 in grants and contracts, including a National Science Foundation grant examining warehouse integration in enterprise-wide supply chain planning.

His students describe his teaching style as focusing on constant communication, connecting theory to the real world, and providing thought-provoking challenges. He helped to revitalize the Institute of Industrial Engineers student chapter at Wright State, providing students with opportunities outside the classroom.
