Wright State communications staff members honored in Ohio journalism contest

Staff members from Wright State University’s Office of Communications received two awards, including one first-place prize, in the 2021 Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest.

Kris Sproles, video content producer, received a first-place award for Best Videographer in the Digital Media category for his stories “In the Bag,” “Eggcellent Delivery” and “F is for Flag.”

“A fun and informative entry that delivers the news while also being exactly the kind of video that will make readers stop, watch and share,” the contest’s judges said.

Jim Hannah, assistant director of public relations, won a second-place award for Best Headline Writing in the Digital Media category for his headlines “Wheel zeal,” “In the bag,” “Food group,” “Painting the town” and “Write angle.”

“Kris and Jim joined only a handful of other university professionals to take home awards in this field of accomplished journalists across Ohio’s newsrooms,” said Seth Bauguess, director of communications. “I know their work highlighting the people and achievements of Wright State University is appreciated through the campus community.
