Angie Tipton, the budget and project accounts manager in the Design and Construction Department, received a 2023 President’s Award for Excellence in Service.
Tipton is a trusted and valuable team member who plays a key role in the efforts by Facility Operations to maintain and improve Wright State’s campuses.
She demonstrates daily what a model employee looks like by listening, acting and performing her work diligently and decisively. She is slow to speak and pass judgment and acts decisively when necessary.
“The university benefits from Angie’s work on a daily basis,” said Javan Conley, associate vice president for facility operations. “Angie’s work is the definition of excellence. She is on top of every situation and has an innate ability to anticipate and head off serious issues or pitfalls before they happen.”
Tipton is respected by her coworkers and those she supervises. Her demeanor and compassion make it easy for anyone to approach her without feeling inadequate or judged.
Much of Tipton’s work is time-sensitive, and she never misses a deadline.
Tipton’s primary responsibility is handling requests for capital construction funds from the Ohio Controlling Board. She puts together the descriptive narratives in the university’s funding requests and, after funds are received, manages the payments and the local construction accounts to ensure funds are appropriately allocated and spent.
“Angie’s experience is second to none, and her knowledge of the Controlling Board policies makes her irreplaceable,” Conley said.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tipton expertly managed the long list of expenditures and projects Facility Operations secured with federal funding.
She also plays a key role in the many year-end expenditures and projects Facility Operations pursues. This process is fast-paced and time-sensitive, and Tipton’s colleagues appreciate her patience and skill during those hectic times.
Tipton supports Wright State’s mission of delivering services to students, faculty and staff by participating on committees whenever she is asked and by volunteering for university-sponsored initiatives like Operation Move-In and letter-writing campaigns to students.
